ID# C43001
Contemporary House Architecture broadly includes the innovative
use of details or the absence of details, resulting in new appearance "too
unique to be categorized." Often structural systems, especially the use of
concrete and/or steel, are allowed to become the expression of style by the
nature of material itself. Other times, air conditioning or other functional
requirements become the dominant design consideration, influencing the building
size, shape, orientation, color, etc. Contemporary architecture is the result of
a juxtaposition of otherwise familiar details or materials in unusual
combinations, mindful of design principle of elegant proportion, form, color and
texture.
Plan variations of many of the houses shown on this page are available from in-house resources at G.M. Frech and Associates.
